KidneyPal has a generous free plan and an optional subscription called KidneyPal Pro. This page covers exactly what Pro unlocks and how billing works depending on where you subscribed.

What Stays Free Forever
The core of KidneyPal never goes behind a paywall:
- 5 scans a day — photo, label, barcode, or quick log, refreshed at midnight
- Your full diary with personalized nutrient limits
- Fluid tracking
- Browsing and searching every recipe, viewing ingredients, nutrients, and kidney scores, and Add to Diary
- Recipe PDF export — single recipes and the bulk cookbook export
- Saved foods, streaks, daily notes, and weight logging
Tip: If you ever cancel Pro, none of your data disappears. Your diary, meals, and recipes stay in your account — you just lose access to Pro features until you resubscribe.
How to Subscribe
You can upgrade from inside the app — tap any Pro feature, or any Unlock with Pro button, and the upgrade screen appears. Monthly and yearly plans are available, and pricing is shown in the app (it varies by country and store).
Managing or Cancelling Your Subscription
How billing works depends on where you subscribed:

In all cases, cancelling stops future charges; your Pro access continues until the end of the period you’ve already paid for.
Tip: Deleting the app — or even deleting your account — does not cancel a subscription. Always cancel through the store or portal above.
Restore Purchases
Got a new phone, or reinstalled the app and Pro isn’t showing? Go to Settings → Restore Purchases. You’ll see Restore Complete with either “Your premium access has been restored” or “No active premium subscriptions found.”
For this to work, you must be signed in to the same store account you bought with — the same Apple Account on iPhone, or the same Google account on Android.
Subscribed on the Website?
If you bought KidneyPal Pro on our website, your subscription links to your app account automatically — just make sure you sign in to the app with the same email address you used when you purchased. Once you’re signed in, Pro unlocks on its own.
Web subscribers manage billing through the Paddle portal: Settings → Manage Subscription in the app takes you there.
If Pro doesn’t appear after signing in with the right email, email us at support@kidneypal.app and we’ll sort it out.
Refunds
Refunds are handled by whoever billed you:
- App Store: request through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com
- Google Play: request through Google Play’s refund process
- Website (Paddle): email support@kidneypal.app and we’ll help
