KidneyPal on the Web

Use KidneyPal in any web browser at web.kidneypal.app — log meals, analyze food, manage recipes, and print reports on a big screen, all in sync with your phone.

On this page

KidneyPal isn’t just a phone app. Pro members can also use it in a regular web browser at web.kidneypal.app — the same account, the same diary, the same recipes, just on a bigger screen with a real keyboard. Log lunch from your laptop at work, type meal descriptions instead of thumb-typing, or print your doctor report straight from the browser.

Who Can Use It

The web app is included with KidneyPal Pro — there’s no extra charge, and nothing new to install. If you’re not a Pro member yet, you can still sign in at web.kidneypal.app; you’ll see a subscribe screen instead of the app. For what Pro includes and how billing works, see Subscription & Billing.

One thing the web can’t do: create a new account. Accounts are created in the mobile app (setup asks the kidney health questions that personalize your limits). Set up on your phone first, then sign in on the web.

Signing In

Go to web.kidneypal.app in any modern browser and sign in with the same account you use in the app:

  • Email and password — with a Forgot password? link if you need it
  • Continue with Google
  • Continue with Apple

Tip: Use the same sign-in method you use on your phone. If your browser blocks the Google or Apple sign-in window, allow pop-ups for the site and try again.

When you sign out on the web, KidneyPal also clears the data it cached in that browser — so it’s safe to use on a shared or work computer.

No need to remember the address. In the mobile app, go to SettingsKidneyPal on the Web (in the Help section). From there you can:

  • Send Me the Link — share the address to yourself by email, message, or any share option
  • Copy Link — copy https://web.kidneypal.app to paste anywhere

What You Can Do on the Web

Nearly everything. The web app covers the full daily loop and then some:

AreaOn the web
DiaryYour full day — nutrient budget, fluid tracking, all four meal sections, week calendar, streak, daily notes, and the binder tracker. Copy a whole day or just selected entries. You can also add a photo to a voice-logged entry from its edit view. Click Carbs or Fat in your nutrient budget to see which foods contributed, with Sugars, Fiber, and Sat. Fat chips to narrow the list to a sub-nutrient. See Your Daily Diary.
FluidsEach drink you log shows the time it was logged. Click View all to open the Fluid Log panel for the day, and click any entry (there or in the tracker) to open Edit Fluid, where you can change the Fluid Amount or Time, or delete it. Apple Health entries can’t be edited here. See Tracking Fluids.
History searchChoose History on the Log page, or click Search everything you’ve logged on the Saved Foods page, to open Search My Entries — it searches everything you have ever logged, not just your saved foods, and lets you log any result again in one click. See Your Daily Diary.
Log foodEight ways on the Log page: Describe (type it, or speak it if your browser supports voice input), Photo (upload or drag and drop a meal photo for AI analysis), Label (upload a nutrition label photo, plus an optional ingredients photo), Barcode (scan with your webcam where supported, or type the number), Menu (see below), Saved, History (search everything you’ve ever logged), and Manual. Manual is for typing nutrient values you already have (from a package, a recipe, or your dietitian) — nothing is looked up for you there. If you type a food name in Manual and leave the values blank, the page asks whether you want KidneyPal to estimate the nutrients instead; Estimate with Describe instead carries the name over to Describe for you. Because the web app is Pro-only, there’s no daily analysis limit here.
Restaurant menusSwitch the Log page to Menu mode and upload or drag in a photo of the menu. You get the dishes ranked for your kidney profile — Best pick, Okay in moderation, or Limit — plus ordering tips. Click I ordered this on a dish, choose the meal (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, or Snack) and your portion (Half, Full, , or 2 servings), then Add to diary. See Menu Scanning.
Meal chatOpen any analyzed entry in your diary and ask follow-up questions, just like meal chat on your phone.
RecipesBrowse, search, and filter the whole library; sort it with the Sort by dropdown (Recommended, Name, Cook time, Sodium, Potassium, Phosphorus, or Protein) and flip the order with the arrow button next to it (A-Z/Z-A, Fastest/Slowest, or Low/High); favorite recipes; import, create, and edit your own; save a library recipe to My Recipes; ask questions about a recipe; add servings to your diary; print or save any recipe as a PDF. In the recipe editor you can also click any nutrient to type your own value — an edited badge marks it, and you can reset it to the AI’s number anytime. See Recipes.
Saved foodsYour favorites library with search, sorting (recently added, name, safety level, meal time, or by nutrient), grouping by meal time or by grocery category with quick filter chips, meal-time tags and a category on each food (set one food’s category when editing it, or several at once from Select Items), Select Items to add several foods to a meal at once, send them to the shopping list, or combine them into one favorite, editing, adding a photo to voice-logged foods, one-click add to diary, and Export CSV — downloads every food currently shown (search and sort applied) as a spreadsheet with its serving, category, safety level, meal times, and every nutrient per serving, ready to open in Excel, Numbers, or Google Sheets.
Shopping listThe same list as your phone, under Shopping List in the sidebar: check items off, delete them, Clear checked, add items by hand, and add a recipe’s ingredients from its page with Add Ingredients to Shopping List. Analyzed foods on the Log page offer Add to shopping list too, and so do selected saved foods.
ProgressAI insights, nutrient trend charts over 7, 30, or 90 days, weight, blood pressure, and activity trends with full history and the weekly activity goal, your scan history, and your notes. Click View All on the scan history to open the full Scan History page — a grid of every photo scan that loads more as you go, where you can select several scans and delete them at once. See Progress & Insights.
Doctor reportGenerate your doctor report and use Print / Save PDF — often the easiest way to bring a paper copy to an appointment.
Weight, blood pressure & activityQuick-log all three right from the diary, and review trends in Progress. A weight logged for today (or a later date) also updates the weight in your kidney profile — the one your protein limit is calculated from — while backdated entries leave it alone. See Weight Tracking and Activity Tracking.
SettingsTheme, language (all 13 languages work on the web), units, kidney status, health conditions, diet preferences, optional nutrients, binder medications, custom limits, password, and subscription — plus the same support chat.

What Stays on Your Phone

A few things only make sense on mobile:

  • Creating your account and first-time setup — start in the app
  • Point-and-shoot camera scanning — on the web you upload or drag in a photo instead of snapping one live (webcam scanning does work for barcodes)
  • Apple Health sync — see Apple Health
  • Meal reminders and push notifications — see Notifications

Everything Stays in Sync

The web app and the mobile app share one account and one database. Log breakfast on your laptop and it’s on your phone moments later; scan dinner with your phone camera and it shows up in the browser. There’s nothing to export, import, or back up — it’s simply the same diary, viewed from two places.

A gentle note: If you ever see the subscribe screen on the web even though you have Pro, make sure you signed in with the same account you use in the app, then click Already subscribed? Refresh. Still stuck? Email support@kidneypal.app and we’ll sort it out.
